Sleep and Snoring Disorder Therapy

Are there therapeutic measures against sleeping disorders?

There are forms of treatment for snoring, but they are adjusted to the patient and their personal illness. People who suffer from sleep apnea can be operated, while light snorers can get rid of this problem by only changing their sleep behavior. Thus, there are many successful forms of treatment against sleep disorders.

The method applied as therapy depends on the severity and cause of the disorder. You can also receive a conservative treatment, among other things. In this case, therapy is attempted by means of a respiratory therapy device. The unit has a blower and a hose and a CPAP mask is pressed on your face with the help of head bands. A minimum amount of pressure is generated in the airways during sleep, so that the respiratory tract is cleared and thus the snoring is stopped.

Another method of treatment besides snoring strips meant to prevent snoring is surgical therapy. It is less known and it is still part of a medical study in the United States of America.

The advantage of this method is that the oxygen
concentration is increased in the arterial blood.

The syringe for snoring: A drug is injected in the soft palate tissue of the posterior throat, which is thereby strengthened and healed, so that the soft palate is stabilized. This is a cure for snoring for many sufferers, one which prevents snoring or partially helps.

In addition to this, there is the so-called radio-frequency therapy. This variant of treatment is based on the same principle as the snoring syringe treatment. It is an outpatient treatment which involves the destruction of the loose palatal tissue by heat, thus generating frequencies that stabilize the soft palate.

Dental splint for snoring - Sleep specialists and dentists have jointly developed the plastic rail. The goal of this tool is to keep the airway clear as the pharyngeal tissue relaxes during sleep. This prosthesis holds the lower jaw and tongue in the forward position, so that you can breathe freely.

Similarly, there is the so-called TNI air current therapy. This therapy based on nasal insufflation supports the natural breathing of snoring patients. The sleeper is blown a warm, damp airflow with the help of a so-called nasal cannula. This method of treatment is very gentle and minimally invasive. But this treatment is only used against sleep apnea. Therefore, it appears not to have a curative effect, so treatment should be applied permanently in order to achieve a remedy and thus stop the snoring for a long time.
